RESOLUTION NO. 90-290 A RESOLUTION CONSIDERING ROAD NAMING IN THE GATEWAY ACRES AREA AND HOUSE NUMBERING IN THE MEADVIEW AREA, MOHAVE COUNTY, ARIZONA WHEREAS, at the regular meeting of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors held Monday, October 1, 1990, a public hearing was conducted to consider road naming in the Gateway Acres area and house numbering in the Meadview area, and WHEREAS, this item went to the Commission through the requirements of Ordinance Section 32: House Numbering and Road Naming Regulations which was approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 2, 1990 via Resolution No. 90-159, and WHEREAS, Gateway Acres, Tracts 1-9, 11, & 12 were created in 1920 & 1937. These subdivisions are located in Townships 24, 25, & 26, at Ranges 19 & 20. The State of Arizona ratified the implementation of subdivision regulations in 1965. Since that time, subdivisions have been required to comply with a variety of procedural steps. One of these procedural steps is the naming of all streets and the extension of all existing streets within a subdivision. Thus, since these subdivisions were created before 1965, there were no names assigned to the roads within them. Moreover, the enactment and the implementation of the 911 . ~E 2 OF 5 ~~ 1800 PG ~06 (FEEt90- 69917) Page 2 , --~, Resolution 90-290 Emergency prefix has reinforced the urgency for street names in these subdivisions, and WHEREAS, in consideration of the 911 implementation, staff made the following recommendations and observations: Newer subdivisions are created with street names. Due to this, any street or road that is in line with an established road name, the established name would be extended to that road. Once this task was accomplished, staff named all other roads that did not fall into alignment with an existing road name. All new names were checked for duplication and spelling, and ~ ",.,'-~":'~ ',,:: _",~'J ~,.;\~: ~~~\:~~ WHEREAS, recommendations from the public for names were taken into consideration and a few that weren't extended from other subdivisions were so named. It should be noted that a total of five roads had different names within the same alignment. Staff then established Highway 93 as a dividing line because all roads terminate at Highway 93, and WHEREAS, for Meadview area, per the County Ordinance Section 25 A-4 which states, ~On corner lots, the shortest side of the lot shall be considered the front of the lot~. This ordinance has already been approved by the Board of Supervisors. The ~~ l,~~ Commission recommended that staff hold fast to the ordinance ~~~ ',~:i.I Section 25 4-A in dealing with corner lots, to keep total uniformity of all addresses in this area to assure emergency vehicle location of homes, and Resolution No. 90-290 . 'E 3 OF ~ ~ 1800 PG ~07.(FEE~90- 69917) Page 3 WHEREAS, the Planning and zoning Commission at their meeting on September 12, 1990 did recommend APPROVAL of this road naming and house numbering as follows: These are the recommended street names to the streets that run EAST-WEST and NORTH-SOUTH. All street names are a continuation of already established names except those with an asterisk (*) which are new names.
