AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE FEE SCHEDULE TO RECOVER COTS OF MICROFILMED
TRANSPORTING BODIES BY MOHAVE COUNTY ON BEHALF OF THE ESTATE/
FAMILIES OF THE DECEASED.
Whereas, Mohave County incurs expenses in removing bodies from the site of death to
the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office, and
Whereas,the cost of providing this service should be borne by the estate and family of the
deceased whose body must be transported, and
Whereas, Mohave County has researched and identified the actual costs it incurs in
transporting bodies as set forth below, and
Whereas,A.R.S. § 11-251.08 authorizes the Board of Supervisors to adopt a fee schedule
for services the County provides to the public,
It is therefore ordained and enacted by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors that:
1. The County shall charge the estate and/or families of deceased persons whose bodies
must be transported from the site of death to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's
Office the following fees:
a. Basic fee for calling out each transportation vehicle and personnel: $65.00
b. Mileage rate, for travel from the site of where the body is picked up
to the Medical Examiner's Office - single body: $1.50
c. Mileage rate,for travel from the site of where the body is picked up
to the Medical Examiner's Office - for each additional body if
transported in the same vehicle: $.75
d. Body removal processing fee: $25.00

MOHAVE COUNTY BODY REMOVAL FEES
Justification of Fee Schedule
Approved by the Board of Supervisors July 13, 1998
Basic fee for calling out each transportation vehicle and personnel: $65.00
Based on reasonable and customary charges for providing a vehicle capable
of transporting at least one body to the morgue.
Mileage rate, for travel from the site of where the body is picked up to the
Medical Examiner's Office - single body: $1.50
Based on reasonable and customary charges that provide one-way rates.
Mileage rate, for travel from the site of where the body is picked up to the
Medical Examiner's Office -for each additional body if transported in
the same vehicle: $.75
Based on reasonable and customary charges that provide one-way rates.
Body removal processing fee: $25.00
Total Medical Examiner Investigator(MEI) contract- FY 99: $38,000 or
$18.27 per hour.
The hourly Public Fiduciary staff rates: $23.85.
It is estimated that the MEI will spend approximately 2 hour per case
arranging for the transportation with the funeral homes,public safety
departments, hospitals, and families - for a cost of$36.54. The Public
Fiduciary staff will spend approximately 30 minutes processing and
tracking the payments for these charges.
The total MEI cost is estimated to be$36.54, while the Public Fiduciary staff
costs are $11.93, for a total of$48.47 per case.
