RESOLUTION NO. 88-29
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County met in Regular
Session this 2nd day of May, 1988, and
WHEREAS, the men of thl:! Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
consisted of thousands of young men and pre-World War II veterans, who
worked continuously for nine YE!ars to safeguard forest areas from
fi re, improve forest communications and bring grass and water back to
arid and semi-arid grazing land~,.
By building up the st't:'ength and
usefulness of young men and by developing and p't:'otecting Arizona's
resou~ces, the CCC increased the state's contribution to the defense
of our country all in the name of conservation.
And despi te the
enormous contribution to America, both in the fields of conservation
and defensE~, the "T't:'ee Army" became the "Army of Fo't:'gotten Men" whose
extraordinary deed were ove't:'shadowed by the subsequent wars of global
dimension, and
WHEREAS, it is the desirc~ of Mohave County to recognize and
thank the "Tree A't:'my" for the CCC camps establ i shed in Mlohave County,
and especially those at Pipe Springs and in the Hualapai Mountains
where their accomplishments still. are enjoyed by hundrE:!ds of Mohave
County citizens each year, and
THEItEFORE, does hereby adopt
this Resolution of Support to the
Civilian Conservation Corps the ME!D of the "Peace-Time Tree Army".
