RESOLUTION NO. 97-52
.
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors ofMoJbave County met in Special Session this 27th
day of January, 1997, and
WHEREAS, Dine Power Authority (DP A) proposes to construct a 500 kv transmission line
from the Four Corners area in northwestern New Mexico across northern Arizona to a terminus in
southeastern Nevada; and
WHEREAS, the transmission line requires Right-of-Way from Bureau of Land
Management; Forest Service; National Park Service; Bureau of Reclamation, the Navajo Nation; the
Hopi Tribe., and/or the Hualapai tribe and the Navajo, and
WHERE:AS, the Navajo Transmi~sion Project has developed an Environmental Assessment
to comply with NEP A; and
WHERE:AS, the Mohave COlmty Public Land Use Committee considered this item at their
meeting on December 17, 1996, and recommended that the Board of Supervisors support the
proposed route C2 as this route will best provide an accessible source for power to support
development within Mohave County, and
WHEREAS, the Mohave County Public Land Use Committee further recommends that if
th{: alternative is not possible, the transmission lines should follow NTP's environmentally preferred
route Kaibito 1; as the Mohave County Public Land Use Committee believes that this
. recommendation will best serve the needs of the residents and businesses in Mohave County.
WHERE:AS, the Board of Supervisors considered the alternatives for the Navajo
Transmission project, and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mohave County Board of Supervisors
accepts the recommendation ofthe Mohave County Public Land Use Committee recommendation
to support route C2 for the Navajo Transmission project.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of January, 1997.
