RESOLUTION NO. 96-104 WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. ~48-4001 et seq., the Mohave County Board of Supervisors is authorized to establish a jail district for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, operating, maintaining and financing County jails and jail systems, and WHEREAS, after a public hearing held for the purpose of hearing all persons in favor or opposed to the establishment of a jail district, it appeared to the Board of Supervisors that the public interest, convenience and necessity would be served by the formation of a jail district, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has called a special election for J\.1arch 12, 1996, pursuant to A.R.S. ~16-225, for the formation of the Mohave County Jail District and authorization of a jail district excise tax, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has further determined that siting of the future jai.l facility be in the Bullhead City area, and has tentatively considered a site located in Section 20, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is interested in identifying alternative sites which possess similar infrastructure and accessibility, yet are more remote from neighborhoods, schools and other concentrated areas of population, and WHEREAS,the City of Bullhead City has established a task force to provide input on alternative sites for the Mohave County Jail, and WHEREAS, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors is committed to working closely with this task force to identify an appropriate site which would be most advantageous for the County and the citizens in the Bullhead City area, . . . Resolution No. 96-104 (Page 2) THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors coordinate and cooperate with the Bullhead City Council in an effort to identify jail sites which are both practical f()r Mohave County and acceptable to the citizens in the Bullhead City area.
