RESOLUTION NO. 93-345 TERTIARY ROAD MAINTENANCE ORDINANCE 92-3 .ADD:ENDUM NO.1 Whereas, Mohave County adoptt~d, through Resolution No. 92-247, a Tertiary Road Maintenance Standard allowing for limited maintenance of certain public roadways in the County, which were constructed and laid out prior to the existence of Mohave County Subdivision and Road Maintenance Regulations, and which do not meet the current right-of-way and design standards for acceptance of County roadways into the regular road maintenance system, and Whereas, given rural development in mountainous or hilly terrain where it is desirable to retain the pristine condition of the land, lesser roadway standards may be acceptable for design and constmction of roadways, and Whereas, in mountainous or hilly terrain the Tertiary Road Maintenance Standards are either impossible or impractical to achieve because of the steep slopes and limited right-.of-way, and Whereas, the Mohave County Subdivision and Road Maintenance Regulations recognized the need for, and included a minimum st'lndard for Hillside Roadways, and Whereas, a Hillside Roadway Standard was not included in the Tertiary Road Maintenance Standard, and Whereas, there is a need for an organized system of limited maintenance of roads in Developments created on hilly or mountainous terrain for the ultimate benefit and safety of the residents of Mohave County, Therefore~. be it resolved, ena.cting the following Addendum to the Ordinance including a Hillside Roadway Standard allowing for the limited maintenance of certain public roadways in the mountainous or hilly areas of the County, which do not meet the current right-of-way and design standards for acceptance of County roadways into the regular road maintenance system, and were constructed or laid out prior to January 1, 1978. Dated this 15th dayof NOVEMBER ~~~~-<~ Sam Standerfer, CI an ,1993 . . . -,---- ORJ[)INANCE 92-3 ORDINANCE - TERTIARY ROADWAY MAINTENANCE ADDENDUM NO.1 HILLSIDE ROADWAY STANnARD FOR TERTIARY MAINTENANCE The fIrst paragraph: "Mohave County, through its Board of Supervisors,.... " is revised to read: "Mohave County, through its Board of Supervisors, establishes by ordinance the following policy and procedure for the maintenance of certain public roadways within Mohave County, which do not meet the current right-of-way and design standards for acceptance of County roadways into the regular road maintenance system, and were constructed or laid out prior to January 1, 1978." I. DEFINITIONS add: "6. TERTIARY mLLSIDE STANDARD: Roadway, located in mountainous or hilly terrain as determined by the Public 'N'orks Department, that does not meet the above roadway design standards, but has 30 ft. minimum width right-of-way; has been rough graded to a 20 foot wide travel surface including shoulders; the roadway can be traveled safely by 2 wheel drive subcompact car; all brush and trees are removed; and large boulders and rocks (3 inches and larger) are removed."
