RESOLUTION NO. 93-109
A RESOLUTION OF THE MOHPlVE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, KINGMAN,
ARIZONA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE SEARS,
ROEBUCK AND COMPANY CATAJJOG OU'fLET AND/OR RETAIL OUTLET IN
KINGMAN, AND LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA.
WHEREAS, Mohave County has relied upon the Sears, Roebuck
and Company catalog outlet store to serve the general merchandise
needs of its citizens for many years, and
WHEREAS, the MohavE! County Board of Supervisors recognizes
the importance of merchandise availability in a rural community
where a substantial percentage of its population being elderly or
disabled without a reasonable al ternati ve to supply the many
needs of day to day living, and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving the merchandise needs of
Mohave County, the Sears, Roebuck and Company outlet has an
important economic impact through sales tax and employment
generated, the loss of which will have a clearly negative impact
on the City of Kingman, Lake Havasu City and the surrounding
communi lties .
THEREFORE, BE IT NOW RESOLVED by the Mohave County Board of
Supervisors that the management of Sears, Roebuck and Company is
urged to reconsider its announced plan to cease catalog store
operations, and further that they be urged to develop an
al ternative plan which will preserve the catalog store, or at
least a retail outlet as a vital and desirable feature of
America" s small rural communi ties such as Kingman and Lake Havasu
City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of April, 1993, by the
Mohave County Board of Supervisors.
