RESOLUTION NO. 93-100 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MOHAVE COUNTY EMPLOYEE WHO IS LICENSED AS A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA TO DECLARE A REASONABLE AND MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT THROUGH A MAINTENANCE OR CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE. WHEREAS, Mohave County in the upkeep and reconstruction of it:s roadway system may find it necessary to keep a roadway open to and maintain the traffic maintenance or construction work zone; and WHEREAS, the postE!d speed limit for traffic traveling through a maintenance or construction work zone may not be a rE!asonable and safe maximum speed limit for these conditions; and WHEREAS, Arizona Rl:=!vised Statutes , Title 28, Chapter 6, Section 28-703 allows local authorities within their respective jurisdictions to determine upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the maximum speed permitted under this article is greater or less than is reasonable or safe under conditions found to exist upon any part of a street or highway, the local authority subject to subsection D may determine and dE!clare a reasonable and safe maximum speed limit at such location and based on such investigation. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, upon the determination of a Mohave County Employee \'lho is an Arizona Licensed Professional Engineer, that the reasonable and safe speed limit through a maintenance or construction zone is less than the posted speed limit, the posted speed limit through said maintenance or construction zone may be temporarily posted for a maximum speed of 30 mph within a rural area and 15 mph within a residential area.
