HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-305 1 I I ----- 1 -- --- _u_ HESOLUTION NO. 92-305 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County met in Regtllar Session this 8th day of September, 1992, and; : I WHEREAS, in written and oral testimony during town hall m~tings and public hearings on the General Plan Committee, the citizens of Lake H vasu City have strongly supported the preservation and enhancement of public rec eation use and access to and along the shoreline of Lake Havasu along Pittsburg Point and I &~&~,~; i I WHEREAS, Lake Havasu City is participating in a study to det rmine the feasibility of converting all or a portion of Pittsburg Point and Body Bach areas to public park ] and, and; WHEREAS, said study is to evaluate land use alternatives and re ommend a preferred alternative to address the feasible conversion of all or a ortion of Pittsburg Point and Body Beach areas to public park land, and; i I WHEREAS, the Scope of Work for said study stipulates that al~ land use alternatives must include provisions for a shoreline preservation zone rnd public access corridors and associa ted parking areas, and I i I WHEREAS, the Mohave C~ounty Board of Supervisors desires to sypport the City Council of Lake Havasu City in its Resolution to: i i Assert and reconfirm Lake Havasu City's policy and expectatiO~ that all alternatives considered in the Pittsburg Point/Body Beach Study in lude plan features which accomplish the Lake Havasu General Plan policy and strategies as follows: i Preserve and enhance public access, enjoyment and use of the lake shorel~ne by: a. Establishment of a publicly acquired open space system ~ound the perimeter of the Island and along Body Beach by public cquisition and/or preservation of land and water access along the sh reline of Lake Havasu. i i i Identification and preservation of significant environmental I resources associated with the lake shoreline. 1. b. Establishment of publicly acquired and owned parking areas add publicly acquired and owned access corridors to the lakeshore park I and open space system from public roadways and by means of a public pedestrian pathway system. I Lake Havasu City is committed to carrying out the aforementioned policy and objectives by means of the City's participation on the Pittsburg Point/Body Beach Study Steering Committee and the City's subsequent preparation, adoption and implementation of an Island Specific Area Plan amend ent to its General Plan based on the Pittsburg Point/Body Beach Study's preferred alternative during the FY 92/93 fiscal year. 3.
