RESOLUTION NO. 91-34
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors met in Special session
this 21st day of January, 1991, and~
WHEREAS, the federally appointed Colorado River Floodway
Task Force has now completed the Floodway Study, and;
WHEREAS, it has been dl3terminE!d that the 100 year flood is
contained within the present river channel, and;
WHEREAS, the lands bet~ween the Arizona levee and the river
bank are now out of the Colorado River Floodway, and
WHEREAS, the County of Mohave is administering those lands
as such, and.;
WHEREAS, those lands and accompanying structures are of
importance as a tax base 1to 1110have County, and
WHEREAS, Mohave County recogni zes the many benef its 'to the
area which are obtained by a suitable structure on Piute Wash,
and;
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation predicts that floods
greater than the 100 year event might damage subject properties,
and;
WHEREAS, it is agreed by all t~hose technically responsible
that the Piute Wash is a substantial contributor to such
predicted floods, and;
WHEREAS ,r Mohave County is av./are of the Army
Engineers 1987 report on Plute Wa~;h but recognizes
report does not have the advantage of the floodway

WHEREAS, some flood control dl~vice (s) strategically placed
on the Piute Wash could substantially reduce, if not eliminate
this flood threat to the afore mentioned properties, and~
THEREFORE, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors does by
this resolution strongly recommend to the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation Commissioner that he support and so request of the
Army Corps of Engineers, that such a study be performed, and
further that if such a s1:udy shows that benefits can be derived
from a flood control device(s), that they be constructed.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of January, 1991.
