RESOLUTION NO. 90-29
COUNTY LEVY LIMIT OVERRIDE ELECTION FOR SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
CALL FOR ELECTION
WHEREAS, the Mohave County Sheriff's DepartmEmt has
requested the Board of Supervisors to call an election to seek
authori ty from the vot.ers to levy property taxes in excess of
the levy limit otherwise prescribed by A.R.S. 42-301, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors believes that the
public's interest, welfare and safety would be promoted by
authorizing such an election to allow the Sheriff's Department
to meet the law enforcement needs of Mohave County;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, as follows:

1. The purpose of this election is to provide revenue
for the Mohave County Sheriff's Department to mE!et, the
law enforcement needs of Mohave County. It is proposed
that~ major expendi t:ures of funds will be allocated as
follows:
A. In order to establish a law enforcement presence
throughout Mohave County that will have a de"terrent
effect on the increasing crime rate, the Sheriff's
Department will employ and equip an additional t.wenty-
five (25) Sheriff's Deputies.

B. In order 1:0 attract and retain qualified and
professional personnel, the Sheriff's Department will
implement salary increases necessary to bring salaries to
a level comparable to the major cities in the County for
Sheriff's Deputies and allow for additional annual merit
or cost of living increases of up to three percent (3%)
for each Sheriff's Deputy.

C. In order to supplement and replace deteriorated
vehicles, the Sheri ff' s De'partment will purchase up to
100 additional Sheriff's vehicles over the seven year
period.
2. The maximum dollar amount of secondary property tax
which may be authorized for each year if the levy is
approved shall be as follows:

be levied in the first year if the voters approve the
