RESOLUTION NO. 95-343 ON PROPOSED SALE OF POWER MARKETING ADMINISTRATION WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors met in Regular Session this 7th day of August, 1995,and WHEREAS, President Clinton has proposed in his FY 1996 budget to sell the assets of the southeastern, southwestern, and western area Power Marketing Administration (PMAs); and WHEREAS, proposals also have been made in Congress to sell Bonneville PMA and the Telmessee Valley Authority (TV A); and WHEREAS, revenues from PMAs power sales cover all their operating costs and repay construction costs with interest and provide a long-term source of revenue to the U.S. Treasury; and WHEREAS, power marketing facilities provide flood control, water supply, recreation and navigation activities and other environmental benefits; and WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties passed a resolution opposing any sale or transfer of PMAs that would increase electric rates to consumers, on July 25, 1995: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mohave County Board of Supervisors oppose any sale or transfer of PMAs.
