RESOLUTION NO. 96-173 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County met in Regular Session this 6th day of May, 1996, and WHEREAS, under the Constitution of Arizona, Article 6, Section 10, and A.R.S. 12-121, Mohave County, Arizona, may have one (1) judge of the Superior Court for each 30,000 inhabitants, or the major fraction hereof; and WHEREAS, according to statistics developed by the Western Arizona Council of Governments, the population ofMohave County in December, 1996, will be at least 135,001 WHEREAS, a reasonable projection of population, considering historic population growth and trends in the County, would indicate that the present population is sufficient to support the appointment of an additional superior court judge; and WHEREAS, Mohave County now has four judges of the Superior Court along with a Judge pro-tern funded by the Arizona Supreme Court; and WHEREAS, in view of an understanding for continued funding by the Supreme Court of Arizona as set forth in Resolution No. 95-352 of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors, attached hereto, the Board believes that the public interest and welfare would be furthered by authorizing a fifth court judge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Governor of the State of Arizona, be hereby requested to approve the appointment of one (1) additional division of the Superior Court in and for the County ofMohave, State of Arizona; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Governor be hereby requested to appoint a suitable person as judge for such division to serve pursuant to the Constitution of Arizona, Article 6, Section 37 and Arizona law; and . --. . RESOLUTION 96-173 Exhibit RESOLUTION NO. 95-352 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County, met in Special Session this 14th day of August, 1995, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County adopted Resolution No. 95-260 - Agreement to allow Arizona Supreme Court to expend monies as per A.R.S. 12-141. for the salary of Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore Robert R. Moon from July 1, 1995 to December 31,1995. on the 19th day of June, 1995, and WHEREAS, the Board desires to clarify this issue. NO\V THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Board of Supervisors of Mohave agree to fund a Superior Court Judge Pro Tern Division 5 position for the second half of fiscal year 96 beginning January 1, 1996, through June 30, 1996.
