HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-370 RESOLUTION NO. 98-370 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Mohave County met in a Special Session this 14th day of September, 1998, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, on numerous occasions, has heard testimony regarding the proposed construction of a power generation facility known as the "Griffith Energy Project", and WHEREAS, the lack of available electrical power in Northwest Arizona, in particular Mohave County has been well documented, and WHEREAS, a number of industries interested in locating in Mohave County have ultimately declined to locate here expressly because of the lack of sufficient electrical power, and WHEREAS, Mohave County is the fastest growing County in the State of Arizona and is currently experiencing problems with sufficient supply of electrical power to residents and current industrial users, and WHEREAS, during public testimony regarding the Griffith Energy Project, concems have been expressed regarding the impact said project will have on natural resources in the immediate vicinity of the Project, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has considered relevant information and the latest scientific data in regards to the impact said project will have on natural resources and found that the project will use no more water than a section of alfalfa. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mohave County Board of Supervisors does hereby endorse and support the Griffith Energy Project and the application of the G-riffith Energy LLC for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility before the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of September, 1998. MOHAVE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
