HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-221 RESOLUTION NO. 99-221 A RESOLUTION OF THE MOHAVE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY EXISTS REGARDING THE RELOCATION OF THE KINGMAN BRANCH OF THE MOHAVE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, WHICH JUSTIFIES WAIVING THE PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS THAT TRADITIONALLY WOULD BE UTILIZED TO MAKE TENANT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE NEW FACILITY TO BE USED BY THE MOHAVE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND TO FACILITATE THE MOVE INTO THE NEW FACILITY. WHEREAS, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors met in special session this 24th day of May, 1999; and, WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors that, due to sudden and unforseen events, the facility currently housing the Kingman branch of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office has become unsafe and unusable for purposes of the continued housing of the Sheriff's Office and that immediate action is necessary to insure the relocation of the Kingman branch of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office as expeditiously as possible to insure the continued efficient functioning of the Sheriff' s Office and to preserve the public health, welfare, and safety; and WHEREAS, the Mohave County Purchasing Policy and Regulations provide that the Mohave County Board of Supervisors, upon at least a two-thirds vote of its membership, can waive traditional procurement practices upon determining that an emergency exists requiring immediate action to protect the public health, welfare, or safety; and WHEREAS, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors finds that the public interest, health, safety and welfare will be furthered by the action taken hereby; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mohave County Board of Supervisors hereby finds and determines that an emergency has occurred, which could not reasonably have been foreseen, and which presents a thi'eat to the public health, welfare, and safety and efficient functioning of the Mohave County Sheriff' s Office, and creates an immediate and serious need for the provision of tenant improvements to a new facility and relocation of the Kingman branch of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office to that facility, which need cannot be met in a timely fashion through the normal procurement requirements. FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED TItAT the Mohave County Board of Supervisors authorizes staffto utilize emergency procurement procedures in accordance with the Mohave County Purchasing Policy and Regulations to expedite making the tenant improvements to the new facility to be used by the Kingman branch of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and the relocation of the Kingman branch of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office into the new facility.
